ROGUE 2004 BYOV APPLICATION INFORMATION

Following is APPLICATION INFORMATION, POLICIES and the APPLICATION FORM to perform at

MAINSTAGE & CAFÉ VENUES between 9:00 AM Monday, September 29th and 5:00 PM Friday, October 17^th. Any applications received before or after these dates will not be accepted.

BYOV (Bring Your Own Venue) between 9:00 AM Monday, November 17^th and 5:00 PM Friday, December 5^th, 2003. Any applications received before or after these dates will not be accepted.

This document contains information pertaining to applications for the Mainstage venues for Rogue Performance Festival 2004. If you would like to apply to perform in the Rogue Performance Festival 2004 please read all the information carefully.

PARTICIPATION
The Rogue Performance Festival 2004 is an open, non-juried, festival. The Rogue is committed to an artist’s right to produce work without the judgment of a jury process and without fear of censure. The only constraints on material or content are the consideration of the health and safety of all those involved, including staff, artists, volunteers and audiences. As an applicant you are given the choice of three different Festival categories within which to participate, each with a separate application process:

TYPES OF ROGUE VENUE APPLICATIONS
ROGUE MAINSTAGE VENUE APPLICATION

Successful MAINSTAGE VENUE applicants are assigned to a Mainstage Venue and are scheduled for an allotted number of 60 minute performance slots. (For more information see below)

ROGUE CAFÉ VENUES APPLICATION
Successful ROGUE CAFÉ VENUE applicants are assigned to a Cafe Venue and are scheduled for an allotted number of 45 minute performance slots. (For more information see below)

BYOV (BRING YOUR OWN VENUE) APPLICATION
Successful BYOV applicants secure their own performance space and determine the number of performances. There is no time limit on their performances. (For more information see Below)

ELIGIBILITY
Any individual or company is eligible to apply to either category but only ONE application can be submitted per individual/company. All applications will be accepted on a first received first accepted process, and must be received before the October 17th deadline. If a company is not accepted into the Mainstage Venue category they may apply as a BYOV performer prior to the December 5^th deadline.

All applications must have a company name, primary and secondary contact. If an individual/company has been found submitting more than one application, ALL applications submitted by that individual/company will be removed from the application process. The primary and secondary contacts of a company cannot be the contacts for a second company applying to The Rogue Performance Festival.

Companies in the Festival may not sell or transfer their spot to another company. If we find that a company has sold or transferred their place to a second company, both companies will be removed from The Rogue Performance Festival and will forfeit their application fees.

OUT-OF-AREA PARTICIPANTS
Out-of-Area Participants, like locals are responsible for all aspects of production, as well as travel and accommodation expenses. With adequate advance notice, we MAY be able to find places for you to stay and volunteers for your tech crew.

PUBLICITY
Each participating individual or company is expected to provide its own show-specific publicity. The Rogue provides general Festival publicity and your production will be listed in the official Rogue Map program guide and on our website (www.roguefestival.com).

Companies will be asked to submit copies of your press kit (photos, releases, bios…) to the Rogue publicist by December 15, 2003. IF YOU HAVE ANY PHOTOS OR PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL NOW, PLEASE SUBMIT THEM WITH YOUR APPLICATION. Digital media preferred if possible. Please submit photos in JPEG or TIFF formats and text in .TXT, . RTF, or .DOC formats.

APPLICATION
Below is a Rogue Performance Festival application. In order for your application to be processed:
* All questions on the application form must be answered in full
* Applications must include 2 separate checks or money orders
* 1 for the application fee (Mainstage Venue $190)
* 1 for the non-refundable $10 processing fee.
* Checks or money orders should be made payable to Theatre J’Nerique.

CONFIRMATION
As we receive a complete Rogue application, we will deposit the non-refundable processing fee check of $10.00 (it must be a separate check). If your company secures a place in The Festival as a participant, The Rogue will deposit your application fee check. If the application fee check bounces, the application will be removed and placed at the bottom of the waiting list. All Local, National and International applicants will be contacted regarding their status by early November, 2003. If your application was neither successful nor put on the wait list, your application fee check will be returned with a notification letter.

The Rogue Performance Festival will take place in Fresno, California on the dates of March 5, 6, 7, 12, & 13, 2004.

A BYOV is a work that is submitted by a company that has found or created their own venue for their production. BYOV's may exceed the 60 minute time limit, run up to 10 performances during the Festival (March 5^th-13^th) and provides the artist with greater opportunities to introduce other disciplines such as full length plays, film, video, installations, site specific work etc.

WITHDRAWALS & REFUNDS
All withdrawals from The Festival must be made in writing by the company's primary contact and must be received by fax, post or email. If a BYOV company in The 2004 Rogue withdraws, notification must be received by December 29, 2003 in order to receive a 75% refund of the application fee. A BYOV company that withdraws after December 29 will forfeit 100% of its application fee. The $10 Processing Fee is non-refundable.

BOX OFFICE / TICKETS
Each BYOV company provides it's own box office and front of house staff and sets its own ticket price up to a maximum of $6.00. PLEASE NOTE that the Rogue sells Rogue Ready passes (There will be 100 passes available). These passes must be honored. Rogue participants receive $4 per Rogue Ready pass used to see their show in the form of a check issued after the Rogue 2004.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
BYOV productions are required to provide ALL of their own technical staffing and equipment for their production

APPLICATION PROCESS
BYOV applications will be accepted from between 9:00 AM Monday, November 17^th and 5:00 PM Friday, December 5^th, 2003. Each application must be accompanied with a one page detailed project proposal including proposed venue location.

WHAT YOU GET IF YOU SECURE A BYOV SLOT:
* 100% of your box office receipts

* Up to 10 performances within the duration of the Festival.
* Inclusion in the Rogue Map program guide, website and overall event publicity
= a detailed program and publicity questionnaire will be sent to all companies after securing a slot. Companies are asked to submit copies of your press kit (photos, releases, bios etc.) to The Fringe publicist. IF YOU HAVE ANY PHOTOS OR PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL, PLEASE SUBMIT THEM WITH YOUR APPLICATION.
* All front of house staff (Box office, usher & house manager)

WHAT YOU PROVIDE IF YOU SECURE A BYOV SLOT:
* An appropriate venue for your production
* A fully prepared, rights secured, audience ready production,
* All materials requested by the Fringe (i.e. contractual, promotional, etc.) ON TIME when requested.
* A set ticket price of no more than $6 (rounded to the nearest dollar).
* All your venue/travel/food/ production/royalties/union fees/misc. expenses.
* Show specific promotional materials (pictures, reviewer packets, flyers, posters, etc.) for your distribution.
* ANY & ALL technical equipment and staffing.
