THE NUDE SHOW

Marcos Dorado

The Nude Show is inspired by Marcos Dorado's love for the human figure. "The passion that fuels my work, " says Marcos, " is my desire to reaquaint people with the beauty of our 'human-ness.'" He pursues this mission by representing the figure in poses that incite awe for the figure itself and/or relate the feeling of an experience. According to Marcos, figurative art is a universal language possessing the power to reach people at many levels. It is through this language that he seeks to communicate with his audience.

The models in The Nude Show are all local individuals who have no previous modeling experience prior to working with Marcos. He continuously studies people and when he finds someone with the potential for an interesting composition, Marcos approaches them with an offer to create art. By finding models in this fashion, Marcos is able to include more people into the process of creating art. "It is always exciting when someone sees a drawing of him- or herself for the first time," Marcos states. It is especially gratifying to Marcos to include these images in his exhibits throughout the state. His work is,also, shown in private collections in Mexico, South America and Spain. Marcos lives in Fresno where he works full time in drawing. You may reach him at (559) 284-5520, marcosdorado@hotmail.com or http://marcosdorado.tripod.com.

The Recycom BYO Gallery located at 604 Olive (the SE corner of Olive and Echo) may also feature performances by local musicians and poets within the course of the festival.
