ROGUE FILM APPLICATION 2005

This document contains information pertaining to applications for the Mainstage venues for Rogue Performance Festival 2005. If you would like to apply to perform in the Rogue Performance Festival 2005 please read all the information carefully.

PARTICIPATION
The Rogue Performance Festival 2005 is an open, non-juried, festival. The Rogue is committed to an artist’s right to produce work without the judgment of a jury process and without fear of censure. The only constraints on material or content are the consideration of the health and safety of all those involved, including staff, artists, volunteers and audience members. As an applicant you are given the choice of five different Festival categories within which to participate, each with a separate application process:

MAINSTAGE VENUE APPLICATION

Successful ROGUE FILM applicants are assigned to a ROGUE FILM VENUE and are scheduled for an allotted number of showing slots. (For more information see below)

ELIGIBILITY
Any individual or company is eligible to apply but only ONE application can be submitted per individual/company. All applications will be accepted on a first received first accepted process, and must be received before the October 30th deadline. If a company is not accepted into the Rogue Film Venue category they may apply as a BYOV performer prior to the December 4^th deadline.

All applications must have a company name, primary and secondary contact. If an individual/company has been found submitting more than one application, ALL applications submitted by that individual/company will be removed from the application process. The primary and secondary contacts of a company cannot be the contacts for a second company applying to The Rogue Performance Festival.

OUT-OF-AREA PARTICIPANTS
Out-of-Area Participants, like locals are responsible for all aspects of production, as well as travel and accommodation expenses. With adequate advance notice, we MAY be able to find places for you to stay and volunteers for your tech crew.

PUBLICITY
Each participating individual or company is expected to provide its own show-specific publicity. The Rogue provides general Festival publicity and your production will be listed in the official Rogue Map program guide, all festival publicity to the media and on our website (www.roguefestival.com).

Companies will be asked to submit copies of your press kit (photos, releases, bios…) to the Rogue publicist by December 18^th, 2004. IF YOU HAVE ANY PHOTOS OR PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL NOW, PLEASE SUBMIT THEM WITH YOUR APPLICATION. Digital media preferred if possible. Please submit photos in JPEG or TIFF formats (at least 300 DPI) and text in .TXT, RTF, or .DOC formats

APPLICATION
Below is a Rogue Performance Festival application. In order for your application to be processed:
* All questions on the application form must be answered in full
* Applications must include 2 separate checks or money orders
* 1 for the application fee ( dependent on the Rogue Film category you choose. )
* 1 for the non-refundable $10 processing fee.
* Checks or money orders should be made payable to Rogue Festival.

CONFIRMATION
As we receive a complete Rogue application, we will deposit the non-refundable processing fee check of $10.00 (it must be a separate check). If your company secures a place in The Festival as a participant, The Rogue will deposit your application fee check. If the application fee check bounces, the application will be removed and placed at the bottom of the waiting list. All Local, National and International applicants will be contacted regarding their status by early-mid November, 2004. If your application was neither successful nor put on the wait list, your application fee check will be returned with a notification letter.

Successful Rogue Film applicants will be scheduled at a Rogue Film venue in Fresno’s Tower District. A Rogue Film venue can seat between 30-50 audience members. Rogue Film 2005 is currently looking for submissions of films of varying lengths to be packaged for viewing slots in the Rogue. All are encouraged to submit their films and is open to all categories including Narrative Shorts and Features, Documentary Shorts and Features, Animation, and Experimental. Shorts are 45 min. or less. Features are 46 min. or more.

The application fee is determined on the length of your film.

- up to 15min. = $15

- 16 - 30min. = $30

- 31- 45min. = $45

- 45min. and over is considered feature = $75

* Applicants with more than one short film may submit their films as a package with ONE application (5 title limit) . Applications will list the length of each film and total the accumulated length to determine which category they are applying for.

APPLICANTS
The Rogue will begin receiving applications at 9:00 AM on Monday September 27^th. All applications must be received by 5:00 PM on Friday October 30^th, 2004. Any application received before or after these dates will not be accepted. We will confirm receipt of application via postcard or email if applicable. Notification of status will be made by early-mid November, 2004.

WITHDRAWALS & REFUNDS
All withdrawals from The Rogue Performance Festival 2005 must be made in writing by the company's primary. If a company in The 2005 Rogue withdraws, notification must be received by December 1, 2004 in order to receive a 75% refund of the application fee. A Mainstage Venue company that withdraws after December 1^st will forfeit 100% of its application fee. As we approach publication of the program (early January) the Rogue will close the waiting list and return all application fees to companies that did not move to participant status. Applicants on the waiting list will be notified if a slot becomes available and may withdraw at any time (prior to accepting a slot) and have their application fee returned to them.

TECHNICAL PRODUCTION
All Rogue Performance Festival performances start on time. Submitted format must be VHS(NTSC), mini DV, VCD or DVD (region 1). All Rogue Film Venues will be equipped with, dvd/video players, video projectors and necessary equipment and Rogue Festival staffing to ensure a smooth run of the festival.

BOX OFFICE / TICKETS
The Rogue returns 100% of the box office ticket sales to the individual companies and provides all front of house staff (i.e. House managers, box office, ushers) for Rogue Film Venue participants.

Each company with a feature length film (46 minutes or more) sets its own ticket price (rounded off to the nearest dollar) up to a maximum of $5.00.

Short films of varying lengths to be packaged for viewing slots in the Rogue and charge the $5.00 admission price Box office receipts will be fairly divided between individuals or companies submitting films.

PLEASE NOTE: the Rogue reserves the right and will be selling Rogue Ready Passes. These passes must be honored. There will be 100 passes available. Rogue Film Venue participants will receive $3 (if you charge the $5.00 maximum) for any audience member using a Rogue Ready pass to see your show.

WHAT YOU GET IF YOU SECURE A SLOT:

WE PROVIDE

* Viewings of your film scheduled in rotation in,

* 1 Rogue Film Venue outfitted with appropriate film showing equiptment that accommodates between 30-50 audience members
* The Rogue provides one technician for your production.
* Inclusion in the Rogue Map program guide, website and overall event publicity
+ a detailed program and publicity questionnaire will be sent to all companies after securing a slot
* All front of house staff (i.e. Box office, usher & house manager)
* And, most importantly, companies receive 100% of their box office receipts

YOU PROVIDE
* A fully prepared, rights secured, audience ready film or films.
* All Rogue Festival materials (i.e. contractual, technical, promotional, etc.) ON TIME when requested.
* A set ticket price (for feature films) of no more than $5 (rounded to the nearest dollar).
* All your travel/food/ production/royalties/union fees/misc. expenses.
* Your own specific promotional materials (pictures, reviewer packets, flyers, posters, etc.) for your distribution.
