This time, the BABAS explore the conundrums of gravity and momentum as they spin, roll, glide, slide, kick, scream, dream and bounce the house! Watch six witty divas boi-ng, boi-ng, with their bling-bling till you ding-ding with their arcane modal melodies, cool beats, ritual phrases and an oddball arsenal of bolly-bolly-bo-bolly-banana-fanna-fo-folly-fe-fi-mo-molly-BOLLY! Edgy, brainy, and luscious postmodern dance by Fresno-raised choreographer Erin Mei-Ling Stuart’s acclaimed San Francisco company. These dances tell stories of chance encounters in elevators, a bitter friendship between aging divas, and lovers who often wish they had never met. The program’s centerpiece, “Songs for You,” is a dazzling ensemble work that throws six flawed characters in a room and locks the door. Held hostage by an unseen — and possibly imagined — captor, they fight and make up with wild abandon, struggle with strange compulsions, and cling to the faintest glimmer of hope. Special guest performance by
Cody Henderson.
