DESCRIPTION: People have wondered for years whether the THEREMIN, that arcane "oooeeeooo" instrument favored by 1950's Sci-Fi movie makers, could be successfully blended with clever pop songs, the ancient plainsong of the 12th century Church and belly dancing. DESCRIPTION: On the first anniversary of 9-11, a CEO describes the war on terror as the best thing that ever happened to him and his salary. Warning: this sarcastic and touching monologue presents an alternative version of history in which the attack on America was even worse than it was.

DESCRIPTION: Jose performs an acoustic set of songs from his self produced album, among other originals. The music is heartfelt and emotionally complex. Musically his influences are Tracy Chapman, Melissa Etheridge, and David Gray. Audiogalaxy says: "...clearly a born songwriter. A complex, intriguing body of work." DESCRIPTION: San Francisco style bellydance comes to Fresno! Tanjora is Fresno's first Tribal Bellydance troupe, performing the improvisational formats of Modern Fusion and American Tribal Style. The dancers of Tanjora shimmy and undulate to both traditional and modern music, transporting audiences to the mysterious lands of the exotic East...

DESCRIPTION: Eric Wagner, known as one of the best keyboard players and background vocalists in Fresno for years teams up with Blue Lou Standifer, a frustrated local singer and the bastard child of Joe Cocker and Janis Joplin (though Otis Redding was seen leaving the house on the same night he was conceived...no one knows for sure)

DESCRIPTION: Merlinda will perform a variety of songs in English and Spanish that include ballads from Cuba, Mexico, Argentina…and so on, as well as contemporary styles that reflect the new Pop, Rock, and Jazz elements in today's music.

DESCRIPTION: acoustical instrumental Hawaiian music of the period 1910-1930; a lot of traditional stuff from the late 1800's; waltzes, hulas, marches, etc, as well as more pop-oriented things from the 1910's and 1920's. Kind of hard to describe if you have not heard it. Definitely NOT Don Ho.

DESCRIPTION: The group will perform a variety of songs from throughout the Americas, including love songs and music that speaks poetically about life and humanity. The songs are in Spanish; however, the program will give a brief description in English explaining what each piece is about.

DESCRIPTION: Desiree has been singing Jazz and Blues for over 20 years. She founded, managed and was the lead vocalist for the band, Blue Divas. This performance will include traditional Blues (Willie Dixon, Bukka White, Memphis Minnie) and Jazz standards (Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk) and original material.
