What is the Rogue?

Should I be on time?

( For the record: Yes, you should. All shows start on time and the doors close then and there. If you are late, you will not be admitted. No exceptions.)

THIS SPACE FOR RENT. $5

…$4…$3.50…okay, I’ll write something here my own damn self…cheapskates.

If you haven’t noticed, we’re putting on a festival. The second annual Rogue Performance Festival.  A once-in-a-lifetime event…oh wait, I just said it’s the ‘second annual’, didn’t I?  Well, we had over 1200 people pay to see the grassroots, local gathering of artists that happened last year. This time around, we have moved the festival from

 (continued next column)

downtown Fresno to the culturally rich Tower District.  Two venues (the Starline and Veni Vidi Vici’s back patio), 5 days (Feb.28, March 1,2,7,8), 24 acts, around 60 performances. And cheap, cheap, cheap (the price, not the performers…well, most of us, anyway). Check out the websites above and find out for yourselves just what the heck is going on. All show times, venue locations and performer bios can be found there. So, You Wanna Be A Reviewer? Huh? Do Ya? Check out our website where you can click on shows and write your own review. This is such a cool, new facet of our site that some people aren’t even waiting for the festival to start before leaving their impressions…which leads one to wonder just what they stock in their refrigerators…more later on this growing scandal.

Just Don’t Call The Whole Thing Off!!!

You can call it, Americana, Alt. Country, Y’alternative music, Insurgent Country, Punk Country, No Depression or “Ain’t this what Country music is supposed to sound like?”  Cosmic Americana music combines American Roots music into a mind bending mixture that represents all of America’s cultures.   Rebellious in nature this music openly thumbs its nose at the Nashville’s plastic status quo.  It’s heartfelt music usually performed by the people that created it.  For a taste of Americana music, check out Bradley “Dudeboy” Rogers’ performance at the Rogue Festival.  Check the Rogue schedule for dates and times.

ROGUE MAPS

Rogue Maps are available at the Starline, Veni Vidi Vici’s, Livingstone’s, the Landmark and the Revue. These maps will clue you in on who is playing, where and when. You can, also, make hats and brooches out of them.

Livingroom Confusion?

Leland Vander Poel's "Songs From My Livingroom" is merely the title of his show and not the location.  Contrary to rumors

flying about town, Leland is NOT actually performing from his own living room.  Please do not go to Leland's house on Saturday evening, March 1st at 7:30pm or Saturday afternoon, March 8th at 1:30pm expecting to be entertained. He will be performing at the Rogue Cafe Venue-Veni Vidi Vici's Patio.

Also, to dispel another rumor....Leland has not incorporated a Llama into his show! (editor’s note: well, now I’m really confused. )

Matthew: You’ll be going with him.

Matthew: You’ll be going with him.

Emily: I’ll be going with him.

( editor’s note: now that’s drama.)

Check out page 6 of the current Vernacular bi-weekly newspaper for a half-page ad of two of our performers.

Also, it’s been brought to my attention that I should announce that all show times as marked in the Rogue Maps are approximate.
