Rogue Festival celebrates the independent performer and artist by providing the opportunity to showcase works in a friendly, affordable, and creative settings. Presented in a fringe festival style format, the Festival includes theater, dance, spoken-word, music, performance art, puppetry and more for Central Valley audiences over 10 days.
Rogue Festival was the brainchild of Marcel Nunis. The first Festival was located at Fresno’s Sanctuary Youth Center. It had 2 venues- The Stage in the theatre section (Mainstage) and a performance area in the cafeteria (Cafe). There were 19 different groups performing 47 shows over 6 days in a 2 week period.
In 2003, circumstances forced Marcel to move The Festival to The Tower District (Fresno’s arts center). Two integral venues welcomed them and Rogue Festival has remained in The Tower District ever since.
Over the years Rogue Festival has grown to have over 70 performers and 300+ performances per year. Selling around 10,000 tickets over two weekends. All of the shows are hosted by up to 10 Rogue Venues including 4-5 OFF-ROGUE venues (formerly called Bring Your Own Venues).
Rogue Festival has been and continues to be run by a dedicated and passionate team of volunteers. From the Production Team to a first-timer taking tickets in front of a venue, over 150 volunteers help to bring The Festival to Fresno.
All of the ticket money from the door goes to each performer/performing group.
